Forms of Cerebral Palsy

Triplegia

Triplegia is a form of Cerebral Palsy that effects three limbs. The term may be confusing because there is not a typical pattern of involvement. Usually it describes involvement of both legs and one arm, but can also involve both arms and one leg. If the legs are the most involved, the diplegia page may be helpful, or if all three limbs are severely involved, the quadriplegia page may be helpful. Triplegia can be considered a combination of hemiplegia overlaying diplegia, or as quadriplegia with much less involvement in one arm.1
